California (the largest economy in the United States) is banning the sale of new gasoline-powered passenger cars and trucks

California Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order that will ban the sale of new gasoline and diesel-powered passenger cars and trucks from 2035.

California joins 15 countries that have made similar commitments, including the United Kingdom and France.

California, the largest automobile market in the United States, accounts for >10% of vehicle sales in the United States and many states have followed it in adopting its other clean energy policies.
